Shahid Kapoor condoles Dingko Singh, talks of biopic on him

Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, known for his hit films like Jab We Met, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh, Padmaavat expressed grief over the death of 42-year-old Asian Games gold-medallist boxer Dingko Singh. The boxer passed away after losing a long battle with liver cancer in Imphal.

Shahid Kapoor paid tribute to boxer Dingko Singh through his Twitter handle and wrote, “Padma Shri Dingko Singh was one of the finest boxers, an award winning sports person who’s brought glory to our nation several times. He will always remain a source of inspiration for the young generations. My sincere condolences to his dear ones. May his soul rest in peace” followed by folded hands.

Shahid Kapoor shared that he wanted to do a biopic on late boxer Dingko Singh. He said he would like to make a film on him.

Soon after the news of the demise spread on social media, sports fraternity, politicians and Bollywood celebs like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Farhan Akhtar, director Raja Krishna Menon and Randeep Hooda paid tributes to the late boxer and offered condolences to the family.

Dingko Singh was serving in the Navy and awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 2013. Last year, he had tested positive for COVID-19. He had to undergo liver treatment soon after recovering from COVID-19. It is said that he even sold his house for treatment.

On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will be seen in the cricket-based film Jersey, a remake of the Telugu film. During the shooting of the film, he suffered an injury on his forehead which required 13 stitches.
